Potency.

Potency within the human system serves three fundamental functions: organisational, protective, and healing. It is crucial for practitioners to discern when each of these functions takes precedence and to establish an appropriate relationship with each expression.

Organisational Function:

Potency plays a crucial role in organising cellular differentiation and embryonic development from the moment of conception, ensuring tissue morphology and order throughout life. Sutherland referred to this as a fundamental expression of Intelligence, where bioelectric forces, rather than genes, guide the folding of the embryo. In clinical sessions, practitioners may perceive the organisational function of potency during periods of reorganisation, where unresolved issues are addressed, leading to a restructuring of the fluid-tissue field into new relationships.

Protective Function:

Potency acts protectively when external forces impact the mind-body system. It localises and minimises the effects of these forces by densifying or coalescing locally. This protective function can be observed in research on the stable 50-second cycle of streaming in the fluids of the slime mould. Potency acts to centre external forces within the system, creating areas of density and inertia known as inertial fulcrums. In clinical practice, practitioners may sense potency coalescing in a spiral-like fashion to protect the system from unresolved external forces, leading to local areas of density and inertia.

Healing Function:

Under favourable conditions, potency initiates healing processes to resolve external forces and their effects on the system. Practitioners play a role in facilitating the client's system to settle into states of deepening equilibrium and stillness, leading to a holistic shift. As the holistic shift progresses, potency may shift from its protective function to a healing process. Practitioners may sense potency as a healing force directed towards specific issues in the system, accompanied by a reorganisation of the fluid-tissue field around inertial fulcrums. The resolution of local external forces may be experienced as heat and vibration, with a subsequent softening and expansion in the area. The culmination of these processes often results in a surge in the fluid tide as more potency becomes available within the client's system.
